Which cleanup tasks should you separate?

Name the tasks rather than asking only whether cleanup is included. This helps the provider answer clearly and gives the host a useful plan for the rest of the property.

TaskQuestion to settle
Cooking equipmentWho clears the chef’s equipment and work area?
Guest tableWho handles plates, utensils, glasses, and table linens?
Food and rubbishWhat is retained, disposed of, or removed under the agreement?
FurnitureWho moves or returns any rented tables and chairs?
PropertyWhat does the owner or rental agreement require after the event?

How does this affect a DIY comparison?

If comparing a chef event with cooking for the group yourself, include the work around the meal. Shopping, preparing the setup, clearing dishes, and returning furniture all have an owner even when they do not appear on a food invoice.

Compare the work actually included in the proposals you have. A service label is not proof that every host task disappears.

What should happen at the end of service?

Have one host available for the agreed handoff and payment arrangements. Keep the responsibility list accessible so there is no confusion about what remains for the host team.

For a rental, check the owner’s requirements separately. A caterer’s work-area agreement does not replace the property’s checkout or event conditions.

A FEW MORE ANSWERS

Common questions

Does chef cleanup include washing guest dishes?

Confirm it explicitly; cooking-equipment cleanup and guest tableware are different tasks.

Can a caterer’s agreement replace rental checkout rules?

No. The property’s requirements still need their own plan.
